Welcome back to a new year and new term at Heywood Prep. We are delighted to be joined by new pupils, who are settling in well.
In the Autumn Term. Year Two will be fired up by their exciting topic "FIRE!". We will launch our topic shortly by a hands-on visit to our local FIre Station and then later in the term will at fire safety when we will be visited by a Fire Safety Officer from Wiltshire Fire Brigade. We will be exploring the events of the Great Fire of London, which this year commemorates its 350 year anniversary. We will link with major events in London and hope to recreate the fire in Pudding Lane burning 3D model houses that we will build in our Art/D|T lessons. Later in the term, we will turn our attention to fire-breathing dragons where we will explore myths and legends associated with these beasts and will engage in a junk modelling dragon making workshop at the ever popular Wiltshire Scrapstore, which will link well with our Science topic of plastics and recycling.
This term, as we have our Christmas performance, there will be no class assembly. We look forward to another spectacular event. Performance dates will be in the printed school calendar.
