Sports News w/c 23rd April

Sports Newsletter w/c 23rd April

We have had an incredibly busy start to the summer term in the PE & Games Dept. Last Thursday we saw our first Inter House Swimming Gala at Ashwicke Hall School. 55 children took partly in a closely fought competition. Congratulations goes to Danes House who won the overall competition. Well done to Charlotte D who won the Performance Cup and Harry W who won the Effort prize.

On the weekend I was so pleased to hear about all of our runners at the Corsham 2K run. Particular congratulations go to William and Elliot who won their age group races. This week we have had some fantastic cricket matches at Corsham CC and Biddestone CC versus, Warminster Prep, Monkton Combe Prep and St Francis Pewsey and on Friday, 50 Yr 4’s and 5’s are participating in Heywood Prep’s first ever Sports Tour to their fellow Wishford Schools’, Hatherop Castle and Cricklade Manor.

I would also like to bring to your attention an additional opportunity about the setting up of a Heywood Riding Team. Mrs Sharples has volunteered to be Team Manager. If there are any children who would like to join this team, please do have a look at the link to the NSEA website (www.nsea.org.uk). Children will need to ride regularly and ideally have their own pony or regular access to one they can ride at competitions. The NSEA do competitions at all levels from assisted upwards so the children do not need to be fantastic competition riders to join. Please let me know of your interest. Once we have signed up as a school then children can do individual as well as team competitions.

Finally, please book up if you can for our first ever FOH Golf Day competition at Kingsdown GC on Friday 1st June. For further info please contact the FOH team.

So now we are off today on our Sports Tour to our fellow Wishford Schools’. Hatherop Castle and Cricklade Manor. Wish us luck!! Read all about it next week, but for the latest pictures and reports, please do follow us on @HPS_Sport.
