U9A Jnr Boys’ Hockey @ St Margaret’s, School

The under 9A team had a good set of games against ST. Margarets and Kingswood. The first 2 matches resulted in a couple of close losses to both opposition. In the second round of games, a strong Kingswood team proved very tough and they scored a few against us. The final match against St Margarets proved the best with a 2-0 win. The whole team played well with Alfie and Gabe running the game from the middle of the pitch; Thomas and Elliot offered good width and William and James were solid in defence.

POM:  goes to Elliot for a sensible, wide attacking position that made space for the midfield runners.

U9B Jnr Boys’ Hockey @ St Margaret’s School

The Under 9 B team found the going hard against the same opposition and spent a significant time defending. The boys were not used to the added width of the St. Margarets pitch and were a little exposed on the flanks.

POM: goes to George for making some good tackles that save the team on a number of occasions.

UB Jnr Girls’ Netball v Springmead School

On Monday 29th January, the U8 team hosted a netball match, at Heywood Prep. We all worked hard on our passing and moving up the court. We really enjoyed our match against Springmead and drew 1:1 The player of the match was Poppy B for her fantastic goal and team work.

U9A Jnr Girls’ Netball @ Kingswood Prep

On Monday 29th January, Year 4 girls went to Kingswood to play in a festival. We played 5 matches altogether and won 2 and drew the other 3. We played against some tall players so we all had to get in front of our defenders to receive a pass. The player of the match was Lily because she was focussed throughout all the games and helped pass the ball down the court towards the goal.

POM: Lily

U9B Jnr Girls’ Netball @ Kingswood Prep

The second team played 4 matches. Everyone played well and tried really hard. We learnt a lot from playing so many different teams. Player of the match was Elena for leading the team well and working hard in every game. Well done everyone.

POM: Elena

U10/11A Snr Girls’ Netball v Warminster School

On Wednesday 31st January, year 5 and 6 girls went to Warminster school to play netball. Both teams were a mixture of y5 and 6. We played lots of different games, where we tried out different positions, which we enjoyed. Elienor made some amazing interceptions, which were spectacular but player of the match, chosen by the teachers, goes to Kate for fantastic defence, determination and awareness on court. Well done to the whole team for amazing play.

Emily, Year 6

U10/11B Snr Girls’ Netball v Warminster School

On Wednesday 31st January, the Year 5 and 6 girls went to Warminster School to play netball. We all played extremely well but our greatest strength was driving into space. However, we could improve our shooting as we had lots of shots but didn't convert them to goals. The player of the match went to Charlotte O for always being available to pass to.

Lottie, Year 6

POM: Charlotte O

U11 Snr Boys’ Hockey v Warminster School

The U11 team depleted by illness and injuries took on two teams from Warminster on Wednesday. Playing four quarters, Heywood began brightly with Wills H and Joshua dominating the midfield. However, with the only attack of that game, Warminster scored the only goal. The next two games Warminster controlled through, but it was great to see Heywood fighting back in the last with goals from Cass and Joshua to win 2-0. Well played to Rowan in goal and William sweeping at the back, but the player of the match goes to Joshua for his slick skills and reverse hitting.

POM: Joshua

U10A Snr Boys’ Hockey v Warminster School

Year 5 A played against Warminster School. We won both our Matches George played well and so did Henry for his great goals, but Player of the Match goes to Alfie F for his outstanding passing and for his tackling.

POM: Alfie F

U10B Snr Boys’ Hockey v Warminster School

Year 5 B played well against Warminster School. Unfortunately, sadly, we didn't win both of our matches but we played very well. Some highlights from the game are when Jamie D made an amazing save and Ollie W made some excellent clearances so we could make some good plays. I think we needed to work on making space more often so we could pass into it we had some good runs. In the last match, we attacked and defended outstandingly.
But, my man of the match is Edward S for his excellent defending and making space for others to run into.

POM: Edward S
