U9A & B Girls Netball v Cricklade Manor Prep

On Monday the Year 4 went to Cricklade Manor Prep for a netball match.

We did really well at sticking to our players when we did not have the ball. We need to improve on getting into space to get the ball. Unfortunately the U9B lost our game, but played really well with effort and enthusiasm.

My player of the match is Verity because she was getting into space to try and get rid of her player.

The U9A also lost but we know we need to work on our teamwork like encouraging our team members when they find things difficult. The player of the match for U9A game is Elena for never giving up.

U8A Boys Hockey v Cricklade Manor Prep

On Monday, Yr 3 travelled to Cricklade Manor for their last hockey game of the season. They were determined to put in a strong performance against their fellow Wishford School. Despite dominating the first third, Heywood fell behind to a defensive error. After a quick chat at the break, Heywood once again were on the front foot and in this third, Jack W levelled up with a well taken goal. The final third saw both teams have chances, and Heywood were unlucky not to have come away with a win. However, Cricklade won the match teas again with sausages, chips and beans that went down well with the boys.

U8B Boys Hockey v Cricklade Manor

The under 8B had a very competitive game against CMP. They scored early and we fought hard to equalise. It took until the last third but we eventually scored after some great pressure. Henry had some great attacking runs and Tom D worked well in defence. Player of the match goes to William P who led the team well and was a rock in defence.

U9A Boys Hockey v Cricklade Manor

The U9A produced a convincing performance in their final game of the season against Cricklade Manor. The final score was 8-3 and the performance was as comprehensive as the scoreline suggests. Player of the match went to Gabe for the timing of his runs to the backpost enabling him to be in goalscoring positions.

U9B Boys Hockey v Cricklade Manor

The U9B fought valiantly against a strong Cricklade side and ended with an undeserved heavy loss. There was no shortage of effort and there were several times the post rattled on the Cricklade uprights. Player of the match went to William W for gluing the attack and the defence together.

Wednesday 21st February

U11 Boys Hockey v Stonar

The U11 won with a commanding performance over Stonar in their final match for Heywood Prep. The team made the most of the generous space by running into the D and taking a shot wherever possible. Stick skills and passing were evident aplenty, particularly from Wills H who with some finely taken goals takes home the Player of the match award.

U10 Tigers Boys Hockey v Stonar

On Wednesday, the U10’s made the short journey over to Stonar for their final hockey matches of the season. We played against three Stonar teams and played extremely well. Joshua and Joseph controlled the middle while Oliver K made some great square passes to exploit the space out wide. However, the player of the match goes to Ed S for his well taken goal.

U10 Lions Boys Hockey v Stonar

The U10 Lions faced three Stonar teams on Wednesday. The matches were tight and the first two games resulted in two 1-0 victories. The final match ended 0-0. Well done to all the players, but particularly, Jamie S who scored both goals.
