Sports News w/c 6th November

Sports Newsletter w/c 13th November 2017

This has been another successful week of sport at Heywood Prep. I was particularly impressed by the way all of the Yr 3 and 4 girls and boys gave their all in the Bath Schools’ Cross Country event on Monday. Well done all to the Snr Girls’ and Boys’ hockey and football teams who performed brilliantly on Wednesday. Please read all the reports below.

Finally, I would like to congratulate two boys, William in Yr 6 who has been selected for the U11 Wiltshire County Cricket Winter Training Programme and Joshua in Yr 5, who has been selected for the U10 Somerset County Cricket Winter Training programme, both after successful trials. This is an outstanding achievement for both of them. Well done and hopefully one day we will catch them on an Ashes Tour!

U8 & U9 Junior Boys and Girls Cross Country

On Monday 6th November, Royal High School Bath, girls and Kingswood Prep boys, held the annual Bath Schools' Cross Country Event for Yr 3 and 4 pupils.

Heywood Prep runners were ready after a successful Interhouse and Mid Wilts Cross Country Event the previous month.

In the boys' races, Alfie just missed out on top spot, being beaten at the post to come 3rd in the Yr 4 A race, whilst Jack in Yr 3 came a creditable 6th in the Yr 3B race.

However, the plaudits must go to our  girls, Yr 3 Girls' with Matilda winning her Yr 3A race and Amy coming 1st in the Yr 4B race, whilst in the Yr 4A race Michelle came 4th.

Well done to all of the runners. It was an extremely competitive field and they all did fantastically well.

U11 Snr Girls Hockey v Stonar School

 Won 5-3

On Wednesday 8th November Year  6  played against Stonar . We played really hard and the end score was 5-3. I would like to give a special mention to Esme for being the goalie for the first time. My player of the match is Shreya, for being an amazing defender and getting low with the ball. Well done everyone.

U10 Snr Girls Hockey v Stonar School

 Won 3-1

We played Stonar on Wednesday 8th November and won 3-1. We tackled well and worked as a team. We need to improve on finding space , as well as pulling our defenders out and then rushing in to ask for the ball. Overall we played really well and Stonar elected Elienor  as the player of the match.

U10/11A Snr Boys Football v Stonar School

On Wednesday the 8th of November, Yr 6 and 5s went to Stonar school to play our first football match of the season.

The team I was watching played 3 outstanding matches.  In the first match, our three brilliant strikers had a lot of opportunities but unfortunately their goal keeper was very good and saved all their shots.

The score was 0:0.

In our second match we totally dominated the match even though they made a few shots but our goalie Joseph  saved them effectively Then one of our star players Cass  scored a outstanding goal where he absolutely smacked it from the side line straight into the top corner and made the score 1:0 to Heywood.

In our third match, we won convincingly 2:0 with Henry scoring one goal and Cass the other one and that is why the man of the match is Henry for his outstanding skills on the pitch.

The B team won two games lost one and drew one. The highlight was Alfie’s hat trick in the 2nd game.
