Victorian Spectacular Open Morning

Heywood Prep welcomed royalty to open their Victorian Spectacular open morning last Saturday. Her Majesty Queen Victoria cut the ribbon accompanied by her Prince Consort, Albert.

We were joined around the school by famous people from the period such as Mary Anning who was searching for fossils, Isambard Kingdom Brunel who was building bridges, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein making electricity, as well as coding with Samuel Morse, toy making with Beatrix Potter and batique with William Morris' muse Elizabeth Siddell.

At break we had a fabulous rendition of 'Food Glorious Food!' by our 50 strong choir joined by our Head Chef, Mr Bumble.

After break the children went back to their exciting activities and then everyone was treated to that new fangled 'take-away' fish and chips. Over 270 portions were served and the consensus was that it was all "rather good". The fish and chips were followed by ice cream and candy floss and we then had great fun playing on the coconut shy, bean bag toss, roll-a-ball games as well as a wonderful May pole dancing display by our dance club and the fabulous Professor Paul Wheeler's Punch and Judy Show.

A fabulous day was had by all.
