PRE-SCHOOL... OAK, BEECH & ASH CLASSES
Our Pre-school year group is split into three parallel classes - each of no more than 8 children per classroom.
Children in the top three classes are encouraged to be more independent, make choices, access resources and develop simple computer skills. They are invited to recount news from home and to retell a story. They also actively participate in their 'Learning Journey' which is a work in progress for their time in the nursery. The appreciation of numbers, number rules and language skills are important. At this level, the children are usually encouraged to write their own names.
They enjoy practical activities such as P.E, music, ballet and role play. They often draw recognisable pictures and develop their imagination through drama.
The children learn to be increasingly self-sufficient. They are expected to be responsible for their own belongings and to show a caring and helpful attitude towards their classmates.
The children interact regularly with the older children in the school, attending school assembly, joining in with activities such as the Harvest Festival and Christmas plays. They become very familiar with the staff, pupils and routine of life in the Reception class, ensuring that the transition to school is smooth and stress free.
Please find below the three older classes class newsletter, their class timetable and the afternoon timetable.
